We consider the solution of partial differential equations for initial/boundary conditions using the decomposition method. The partial solutions obtained from the separate equations for the highest-ordered linear operator terms are shown to be identical when the boundary conditions are general, and asymptotically equal when the boundary conditions in one independent variable are independent of other variables.
