In the paper of \textit{P. Li} and \textit{S. T. Yau} [Commun. Math. Phys. 88, 309-318 (1983; Zbl 0554.35029)] is proved an estimate for the counting function of the eigenvalues of Schrödinger equation with Dirichlet boundary condition. In this paper the authors note that upper bounds for the heat kernel yield a universal constant appearing in the estimate, and they give upper bounds for the fundamental solution for the heat equation on \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\) endowed with a conformally euclidean metric. For that purpose the authors employ the Elworthy-Truman formula for the heat kernel. Finally, as an application explicit calculations are given for the case of the constant curvature for \(n\geq 3\).
