The authors discuss circular orbits of test particles in Kerr space-time. Using the so called ``optical reference geometry'' [see \textit{M. A. Abramowicz}, \textit{B. Carter} and \textit{J. P. Lasota}, ibid. 20, 1173-1183 (1988; Zbl 0658.53072)], the circular orbit condition is rewritten as a balance equation for three quasi-Newtonian forces which are interpreted respectively as centrifugal, Coriolis, and gravitational force.
