The paper describes a method of finding the fundamental splines for periodic cardinal Hermite interpolation. Here, N-periodic splines of degree \(2k+1\) and deficiency r at the knots \(i\in {\mathbb{Z}}\) are considered, with interpolation conditions \(s^{(k)}(i)\), \(i\in {\mathbb{Z}}\), \(k=0,...,r-1\). From earlier work of the authors (and others) it is known that the fundamental solutions of this interpolation problem can be expressed through contour integration involving the so-called Euler- Frobenius polynomials. Based on a clever application of the residue theorem explicit formulas are derived which avoid complex parameters. Several examples are given.
