The paper deals with fixed points problems for a family of multivalued functions. Necessary and sufficient conditions to extend the given set of multivalued maps to a new one with additional continuity properties are proven. The authors also give three abstract convergent algorithms related to the above result. The proposed ideas are applied to mathematical programming problems (e.g., the known variable metric model is obtained here under weaker hypotheses).
