    For a nonempty set E of nonnegative integers let \(H_ E^{p,q,\alpha}\) and \(H^ p_ E\) be the closed linear span of \[ \{z_ 1^{\alpha_ 1}z_ 2^{\alpha_ 2}...z_ n^{\alpha_ n}:\;(\alpha_ 1,\alpha_ 2,...,\alpha_ n)\in ({\mathbb{Z}}_+)^ n,\quad \alpha_ 1+\alpha_ 2+...+\alpha_ n\in E\} \] in the mixed norm space \(H^{p,q,\alpha}(B_ n)\) and in the Hardy space \(H^ p(B_ n)\), respectively. It is proved that the Hahn-Banach extension property (HBEP) of \(H_ E^{p,q,\alpha}\) is independent of q. As an application, it is proved that if \(0<p<1\) and \(H_ E^{p,q,\alpha}\) or \(H^ p_ E\) has HBEP then E must be thick in the sense that if \(E=\{m_ n: n=1,2,...\}\), where \(m_ 1<m_ 2<...\), then \(m_ n\leq cn\) for some constant c.
