Normal approximants to binormal operators (Q804674): Difference between revisions

It is shown that a two by two block matrix, with commuting normal matrices as blocks, has a closest normal matrix, which can be computed with an obvious block version of the algorithm one applies to a two by two ordinary complex matrix.
