For the initial value problem of a first order system of differential equations with finite delay the monotone iterative technique is used to construct monotone sequences which converge uniformly and monotonically to maximal solutions of the system. The method of mixed monotony gives the possibility to construct monotone sequences that converge to the unique solution of the problem even in the case when the right-hand side does not possess any monotonicity properties.
