The authors prove reverse Hölder inequalities of type \[ (1)\quad \int^{b}_{a}uvw\geq C(\int^{b}_{a}u^ pw)^{1/p}(\int^{b}_{a}v^ qw)^{1/q} \] for nonnegative functions u,v, concave on [a,b], in several special cases of weight w, real numbers a,b and \(p,q\geq 1.\) Namely, if \(a=0,\) \(b=1,\) \(w(t)=t^{\alpha},\) and \(p=q=2,\) then (1) holds with the best constant \(C=C_{\alpha}=2^{- 1/2}(\alpha +1)^{1/2}(\alpha +2)^{-1/2}.\) A special result is obtained for \(p\geq 1\) and \(v=1:\) \[ (2)\quad \int^{1}_{0}u(t)t^{\alpha}dt\geq C_{\alpha,p}(\int^{1}_{0}u^ p(t)t^{\alpha}dt)^{1/p} \] with \(C_{\alpha,p}=(\alpha +1)^{- 1}(\alpha +2)^{-1}B(p+1,\alpha +1)^{-1/p}\), where B is the beta function. In case \(\alpha =0\) (2) reduces to the Favard inequality. If \(a=0\), \(b=\infty\), \(w(t)=e^{-xt}\) with \(x>0\), \(p>1\) and \(q=p/(p-1)\), then (1) holds with \(C=C_{p,q}=\min (\Gamma (p+1)^{-1/p},\Gamma (q+1)^{-1/q}).\) The proofs are given by careful analysis based on the Green function for the operator \(u''\).
