A two-dimensional linear test problem with two different delay terms is considered. First, sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability are presented. Then the stability properties of the linear \(\theta\)-method are studied with the aid of a general stability theorem [see \textit{M. Z. Liu} and \textit{M. N. Spijker}, IMA J. Numer. Anal. 10, No.1, 31-48 (1990; Zbl 0693.65056)]. Further, the stability of the one-leg \(\theta\)-method is investigated.
