Consider the Jacobi polynomials \(P_ n^{(\alpha,\beta)}(x)\), and put \(R_ n^{(\alpha,\beta)}(\theta)=P_ n^{(\alpha,\beta)}(x)/P_ n^{(\alpha,\beta)}(1)\). The authors study Jacobi series of the form \[ j(\theta)=\sum_{n\geq 1}c_ nw_ n^{(\alpha,\beta)}R_ n^{(\alpha,\beta)}(\theta)\cdot n^{-(2\alpha +2)}, \] where \(\{c_ n\}\) is a real sequence and \(w_ n^{(\alpha,\beta)}\) explicitly given quantities depending on \(\alpha\), \(\beta\) and n. Under appropriate Tauberian conditions on \(\{c_ n\}\) and asymptotic behaviour of j(\(\theta\)) as \(\theta \to 0\), a much more precise remainder theorem on \(\{c_ n\}\) is obtained.
