The purpose of this paper is to describe how to obtain explicit linear regressions for simple community type Volterra-Hamilton systems which use field data directly. For example, the constant coefficient coral growth model, used in several more involved models, can be easily tested by the means described here. The test formulas will be suitable for simple communities only and the reader is assumed to have read the author's brief introductory article in this issue [ibid., 19-23 (1990; Zbl 0705.92021)]. The existence of tests, in general, is considered in Section 3, but no formulas are provided.
