A free boundary problem for the compressible Euler equations is considered without surface tension. The initial domain \(D_0\) is homeomorphic to the unit ball. It is assumed that the pressure \(p\) vanishes at the boundary \(\partial D\) and the normal derivative \(\partial_N p\) obeys the inequality \(\partial_N p |_{t=0}\leq -c_0\) at the boundary \(\partial D \) for some positive constant \(c_0\). Local existence in Soboles spaces is proved.
