The authors establish a common fixed point theorem for a sequence of selfmaps of a complete fuzzy metric space, thus extending similar results of \textit{G.~Song} [Fuzzy Sets Syst.\ 135, No.~3, 409--413 (2003; Zbl 1020.54009)] and \textit{R.~Vasuki} [Fuzzy Sets Syst.\ 97, No.~3, 395--397 (1998; Zbl 0926.54005)].
