Many physical systems cannot exist above certain characteristic temperatures: e.g., some constituents of gas may decompose at certain temperature and so on. The authors have considered a \(\tau\)-oscillator which is a one-dimensional quantum mechanical oscillator that can exist only below a critical temperature. [\textit{V. Badescu} and \textit{P. T. Landsberg}, J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 35, L591--L595 (2002; Zbl 1043.81773)]. This paper deals with bosons and fermions which are supposed to exist only below some temperatures, as a generalization of a \(\tau\)-oscillator. The systems of these bosons and fermions are considered on the basis of a canonical ensemble. Thermodynamical functions of the systems are derived.
