Towards estimates of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations, it seems necessary to obtain such for the Stokes flow first, i.e.\ the linear part. Here the author's main result proves new temporal decay estimates in \(L^1(\mathbb R^n)\) on the half space \(\mathbb R^n_+\), where \(x=(\bar x,x_n)\), \(x_n>0\). The decay rate is \(t^{-1}\) or \(t^{-1/2}\) depending on how the initial data can be measured with respect to the half space coordinates \(x_n\) and \(\bar x\). Similar estimates are obtained in the half spaces of \(L^\infty\) and, adopting ideas from [Math. Z. 231, No. 2, 383--396 (1999; Zbl 0928.35118)], in the Hardy space \(\mathcal{H}^1\) (consisting of \(L^1\) functions whose convolutions with the heat kernel have bounded supremum). A recently submitted manuscript by the author entitled ``Temporal and spatial decays for the Stokes flows'' also contains some results used here.
