Let \((M,g)\) be a Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\geq 3\) and consider the Schouten tensor \(A_g=\frac{1}{n-2}(\text{Ric}_g-\frac {\text{Scal}_g}{2(n-1)}g)\). The \(\sigma_k\) curvature of \(g\) is the \(k\)th elementary symmetric function of the eigenvalues of the \((1,1)\)-tensor \(g^{-1}\circ A_g\). If \(k=1\), \(\sigma_1\) a constant multiple of \(\text{Scal}_g\). Recent researches deal with geometrical and PDE problems involving the \(\sigma_k\) curvature of \(g\) for \(k>1\). In this paper, combining tensor calculus with some algebraic and analytic properties of the \(\sigma_k\) curvatures, the author proves the following Kazdan-Warner type identity: Theorem. Let \((M,g)\) be a compact locally conformally flat Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\geq 3\) and \(X\) be a conformal Killing vector field on \(M\). Then, if \(k>2\), one has \(\int_M \langle X,\nabla\sigma_k)\,\text{dvol}_g=0\).
