This paper investigates the criterion for the Riemann Hypothesis given by \textit{X.-J. Li} [J. Number Theory, 65, No. 2, 325--333 (1997; Zbl 0884.11036)], namely that, for every positive integer \(n\), the \(n\)-th derivative of \(s^{n-1}\log\xi (s)\) is non-negative at \(s=1\). It is shown how these numbers are related to the constant terms \(c_k\) in the asymptotic formula \[ \sum_{n\leq x} \Lambda(n)\frac{(\log n)^k}{n}=\frac{(\log x)^{k+1}}{k+1}+c_k+ o(1). \] Various estimates relating to these two series of constants are presented.
