A fourth-order iterative method of the type: \[ x_{n+1}=\Phi(x_{n}), n=0,1,2,\dots \Phi:X \rightarrow X \] is presented for the solution of the quadratic equation \(F(x)=0\), where \[ F:X\rightarrow Y \] and \(X,Y\) are Banach spaces. The main result is given in a semilocal convergence theorem. The paper concludes with numerical examples.
