Median alpha-levels of a fuzzy number (Q2492338): Difference between revisions

The paper contributes to the analysis of a specific approach to the approximation of fuzzy numbers. Namely, they are approximated by alpha-cuts of their membership functions with special stress on the alpha-levels derived from median, eventually from percentiles. The medians based on the vertical and horizontal dimensions of fuzzy numbers, as well as on their cardinality, are considered and discussed, and some of their analytical properties are derived. The analyzed concepts are illustrated by numerous examples.
