The aim of this paper is to study the problem \[ \begin{aligned} -\Delta_x u=\rho(x) f(u)&\quad\text{in }\mathbb{R}^N,\\ u>\ell&\quad\text{in }\mathbb{R}^N,\\ u(x)\to \ell&\quad\text{as }|x|\to\infty,\end{aligned}\tag{1} \] where \(N\geq 3\) and \(\ell\geq 0\) is a real number. Under some appropriate conditions on the data of (1) the author proves existence and uniqueness results depending on the decay rate of \(\rho(x)\) at infinity. The author distinguishes the cases \(\ell> 0\) and \(\ell= 0\). To this end the comparison techniques are used as well as the theorem of Brezis and Oswald for sublinear elliptic equations.
