In a Banach space \(X\), the impulsive functional-differential equation \[ \dot{x}(t)=Ax(t)+B u(t)+f(t,x_t),t\in J=[0,b],t\neq t_k,k=1,\dots,m,\;u(\cdot)\in L^{2}(J,U), \tag{1} \] \[ x(t_{k}+)=x(t_{k}-)+I_{k}(x(t_k-)),k=1,\dots,m,x(t)=\Phi(t),t\in [\tau,0],\Phi(\cdot)\in D, \tag{2} \] is considered, where \(A\) is the infinitesimal generator of a strongly continuous semigroup of bounded linear operators \(T(t), B\) is a bounded linear operator; and \(D\) is a set of piecewise continuous functions \(\varphi:[\tau,0]\rightarrow X\) having finitely many discontinuity points of the first kind. A function \(x(t)\in X,t\in [\tau,b]\), is said to be a solution of (1), (2) if \(x(t)\) satisfies condition (2);the restriction of \(x(t)\) on the interval \([t_k,t_{k+1}],k=1,\dots,m\) is continuous and the following integral equation is verified \[ x(t)=T(t)\Phi(t)+\int_{0}^{t}T(t-s)[(Bu)(s)+f(s,x_s)]ds+ \] \[ \sum_{0<t<t_k}T(t-t_k)I_k(x(t_k-)),t\in J. \] System (1), (2) is said be controllable if for every initial function \(\Phi(\cdot)\in D\) and \(x_1\in X\), there exists a control \(u(\cdot)\in L^{2}(J,U)\) such that the solution \(x(t)\) corresponding to the control \(u(t)\) satisfies \(x(b)=x_1.\) On the basis of Schaefer's fixed-point theorem, sufficient conditions for controllability are obtained.
