The tools of the theory of monotone operators are used in order to obtain a result on the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the following evolution equation of second-order with some coefficient in front of the second temporal derivative: \[ (Su')'+ Nu'+ Au= f,\;P_+(0) u'(0)= \varphi, \;P_-(T)u'(T)= \psi, \;u(0)= \eta, \] where \(P_+\) and \(P_-\) are orthogonal projections. A lot of special cases are considered in details.
