This paper establishes a notion of asymptotic upper curvature bounds for a large class of negatively curved spaces, namely, the Gromov hyperbolic metric spaces. Moreover this notion is invariant under rough isometries in the sense that two rough isometric Gromov hyperbolic metric spaces have the same asymptotic upper curvature bounds. The authors examine basic properties of this notion.
