The authors consider the Schwarz algorithm for the following equation in heterogeneous media \[ \left( -\nabla \cdot \left( \mu \nabla \right) \right) u\left( x,y\right) =f\left( x,y\right) ,\;x,y\in R^2,\;\lim _\infty u=0. \] The method, based on two parameters optimization, involves new interface conditions specially designed to keep the heterogeneity between the subdomains on the interface. The authors present an asymptotic analysis of the method together with the mesh size and the heterogeneity ratio. The new interface conditions lead to a better asymptotic convergence rate than other available interface conditions. Some numerical experiments illustrate the convergence of the Schwarz algorithm equipped with these new original interface conditions.
