Gravitation and quantum mechanics are undoubtedly two truly great fields of extreme importance for clearly comprehending the intricacies of nature in all depth and details. Attempts to combine them in a meaningful manner have been receiving careful and earnest attention from several eminent scientists in the past. Yet a long distance remains to be covered still before one can really see the desired successful culmination of the sojourn. The authors here have studied some of the possible restrictions on the structure of curvature corrections to the gravitational theories particularly in the context of the corresponding Kac-Moody algebras. The main emphasis is to explore and elaborate on a few of the earlier results and conjecturally generalize them. In section 2, on weights and curvature monomials, a method of computation of the walls for a given Lagrangian and powers of the curvature tensor is given while section 3 reexamines the case of 11-dimensional gravity and \(E_{10}\). In sections 4 and 5, the analysis for DE\(_{10}\) and BE\(_{10}\) is given. In the sixth section, \(E_{10}\) is analysed under certain decompositions, appropriate for the interpretation in terms of the 10-dimensional II A and II B theories. The final, seventh section on conclusion summarises the article with clarifying remarks on the connections between the various aspects of the research work stressing specially on the curvature corrections.
