The authors give the complete group classification of the general form nonlinear diffusion-convection equation \(f(x)u_t=[g(x)D(u)u_x]_x+h(x)K(u)u_x\), where \(f(x)\), \(g(x)\), \(h(x)\) and \(D(u)\) \(K(u)\) are sufficiently smooth functions, \(f(x)g(x)\neq 0\) and \((D_u,K_u)\neq (0,0)\). In the introduction group classification results for more partial forms of parabolic equations belonging to predecessors are lighted. Further the determinating equations for the Lie symmetry analysis are derived and the general result for form-preserving point transformations is presented. Four exclusive cases are studied. Equivalence transformations are provided linking the equations that admit Lie symmetries. Special forms of nonlinear diffusion-convection equation are indicated which can be mapped into equations with constant coefficients. At the usage of the Lie symmetries, equivalence transformations and known solutions numerous examples of new solutions are given.
