The author derives upper bounds for the transition density \(p^ V\) of the Schrödinger operator \(-\Delta/2 + V\) on a Riemannian manifold (with Ricci curvature bounded from below) of the form \(p^ V(t,x,y) \leq \gamma \cdot p(\beta t,x,y) \cdot e^{-\alpha t}\), where \(p(\cdot,\cdot,\cdot)\) denotes the heat kernel on the manifold. The regularity assumptions on the potential \(V\) are rather weak, in that it is even permitted to assume that \(V\) is replaced by a signed measure.
