The paper deals with the dissipative linear Boltzmann equation which governs the time evolution of the distribution function \(f(x,v,t)\) of particles of given mass colliding inelastically with other particles with different mass. One proves that an equilibrium state exists, which is defined by a Maxwellian distribution. The proof works via a Fokker-Planck approximation and the H-theorem.
