The author announces a series of results and techniques which extend previous applications of minimal hypersurfaces in scalar curvature geometry. The minimal hypersurface approach, which is used to pick up positive scalar curvature on a lower dimensional manifold, runs into trouble when the dimension of the ambient manifold is greater than \(7\). The area minimizing hypersurfaces obtained by geometric measure theory will then in general have singularities. Using the techniques announced, a kind of coarse regularization scheme, the author is able to bypass these problems and extend the approach to dimensions greater than \(7\).
