A simple method is described which can be employed to construct some minimal non-orientable matroids. Among the matroids which this method yields are some which resolve a problem posed by \textit{G. M. Ziegler} [Geom. Dedicata 38, No.~3, 365--371 (1991; Zbl 0726.05026)]: For each finite field, find a minimal non-orientable matroid which can be realized as a submatroid of the projective plane over that field.
