Two new classes of vector-valued sequence spaces, \(h_N(E_k)\) and \(\ell_M(B(E_k,Y))\) for sequences of complex Banach spaces \(\{E_k\}_{k \geq 1}\) and a Banach space \(Y\), are introduced. The authors show that if \(M\) and \(N\) are mutually complementary Orlicz functions, then \(\ell_M(B(E_k,Y)) \subset h^{\beta}_N (E_k)\), \(h^{\alpha}_N(E_k) = \ell_M(B(E_k,Y))\). Here \(\alpha\), \(\beta\) denote the corresponding duals. Reviewer's remarks: The authors have been very skimpy in giving references to standard literature. In particular missing from the list are the well-known monographs by \textit{M.\,M.\,Rao} and \textit{Z.\,D.\,Ren} [``Applications of Orlicz spaces'' (Pure and Applied Mathematics 250, Marcel Dekker, New York) (2002; Zbl 0997.46027)] and their 1991 classic [``Theory of Orlicz spaces'' (Pure and Applied Mathematics 146, Marcel Dekker, New York) (1991; Zbl 0724.46032)] . In the Introduction, the authors mention ``the general conjecture that every infinite-dimensional Banach space contains a closed subspace isomorphic to \(c_0\) or some \(\ell_p\)''. This problem was solved in the negative by \textit{B.\,S.\,Tsirel'son} [Funct.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 8, 138--141 (1974); translation from Funkts.\ Anal.\ Prilozh.\ 8, No.\,2, 57--60 (1974; Zbl 0296.46018)] who produced an example of a Banach space with an unconditional basis which contains no isomorph of \(l_p\) for any \(1\leq p<\infty\), or of \(c_0\).
