Local boundary integral equation (LBIE) methods can be used if evaluation of the solution is required not over the whole boundary but only a small part of it. The paper briefly reviews the basic principles of two LBIE methods based on Taylor and Fourier series expansions for two-dimensional potential problems. To show the accuracy of both methods, a number of potential functions with polynomial, hyperbolic, and logarithmic variations are applied to square and annular domains, and numerical results for some test cases are given.
