Let \(\Gamma\) (KG) be the Auslander-Reiten quiver of the group algebra KG where G is a finite p-group and K is a perfect field of characteristic p. This paper studies the distribution of modules in \(\Gamma\) (KG) with a given vertex \(Q\leq G.\) Let \(\Theta\) be an infinite component of \(\Gamma_ s(KG)\) which is not a tube of rank 1. It is proved that, apart from two exceptions for \(p=2\) (details are given), either all modules in \(\Theta\) have the same vertex, or else only two vertices P, Q occur and \(Q\ntrianglelefteq P\). In this case the tree class of \(\Theta\) is \(A_{\infty}\) and the modules with vertex Q lie in one or two \(\tau\)-orbits at the end of \(\Theta\). Moreover, a source of any module in \(\Theta\) with minimal vertex which is linked to a module with larger vertex determines the vertices of all modules in \(\Theta\).
