    The authors consider Fourier integral operators of the form \[ T_\lambda f(x)= \int\exp(i\lambda S(x, z)) a(x,z) f(z)\,dz, \] with \(z\in\mathbb{R}^n\) and \(x\in\mathbb{R}^m\). The amplitude \(a(x,z)\) is \(C^\infty\) with compact support and \(\lambda\) is a large parameter. The object is to prove upper bounds of the form \[ \| T_\lambda\|\leq C\lambda^{-r}(\log \lambda)^p, \] with \(r> 0\) and \(p\geq 0\) depending on \(S\) [see \textit{D. H. Phong} and \textit{E. M. Stein}, Acta Math. 179, No. 1, 105--152 (1997; Zbl 0896.35147)] for the case \(m= 1\), \(n= 1\). Here the authors obtain interesting results in the case when \(S(x,z)\) is a homogeneous polynomial of degree \(M\geq 3\), in the higher-dimensional case. The main result concerns the case \(m=2\), \(n= 2\), \(M= 3\), for which the authors get the bound with \(r= 2/3\), \(p= 0\), under suitable algebraic assumptions on \(S(x,z)\).
