The authors study the Hopf bifurcation phenomena in symmetrically coupled systems of lossless transmission lines, and more generally in symmetric systems of neutral functional differential equations. Results rely on the equivariant degree method. More precisely, they translate the spectral equivariant information provided by the characteristic equation into a bifurcation invariant expressed in terms of the equivariant degree. Finally, concrete computational results of the bifurcation invariants are obtained using a specially developed Maple package.
