Let \(K\) be an infinite field of an arbitrary characteristic. Denote the \(k\)-th coefficient of the characteristic polynomial of \(n\times n\) matrix \(X\) by \(\sigma_k(X)\), \(k=0,\ldots, n\). The classical Amitsur's formula represents \(\sigma_k(A+B)\) as a polynomial in \(\sigma_i(a)\), where \(1\leq i \leq k\) and \(a\) is a monomial in \(A\) and \(B\). The author obtained an analog of Amitsur's formula for partial linearizations of the Pfaffian for block matrices. This result is applied in another upcoming paper to determine the generators for the \(SO(n)\)-invariants of several matrices and relations for \(O(n)\)-invariants of several matrices over a field of an arbitrary characteristic.
