    Let \({\mathcal L}\) be a \({\mathcal I}\)-subspace lattice on a Banach space \(X\). A subalgebra \({\mathcal A}\subset\operatorname{Alg}{\mathcal L}\) is called a standard operator algebra if it contains the algebra (\({\mathcal F}({\mathcal L})\)) of all finite rank operators in \(\operatorname{Alg}{\mathcal L}\). The present paper deals with centralizers of \({\mathcal A}\). If \(I \in {\mathcal A}\), then, for any centralizer \(\Phi\), there is a \(T \in {\mathcal A}\) such that \(\Phi(A)=TA=AT\) for all \(A \in {\mathcal A}\). When \({\mathcal A} = {\mathcal F}({\mathcal L})\), any linear \(\Phi\) that satisfies \(\Phi(P)=\Phi(P)P=P\Phi(P)\) for every idempotent \(P\) is a centralizer. It is also shown that any linear local (left or right) centralizer is a centralizer.
