The cold-electron plasma equations appropriate for the strongly magnetized non-relativistic electron beam yield the regularized long way equation (\(rlw\)) in one space dimension. The authors design conservative difference schemes for this equation which preserve the properties of the \(rlw\). Existence of the finite difference solutions is proven and stability results are given. Numerical results show the accuracy and efficiency of the schemes.
