The paper is concerned with the problem of superconvergence in the context of the generalized finite element method, first introduced by \textit{I. Babuška, G. Caluz} and \textit{J. E. Osborn} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 31, 945--981 (1994; Zbl 0807.65114)]. The authors prove that the superconvergence points can be obtained by finding zeros of a system of nonlinear equations that do not depend on the exact solution of the problem, and also address the superconvergence points for the second derivatives of the generalized finite element error.
