The authors investigate the joint limit distribution of coordinatewise maxima of i.i.d. r.v.s with a bivariate geometric distribution (BGD). The Marshall-Olkin construction of BGD is used, i.e. the entries of BGD can be considered as numbers of trials to the successes in i.i.d. sequence of pairs of experiments. The authors consider the case where the probabilities of successes tend to zero.
