The paper proposes an alternative method for solving the linearized system of linear micropolar elasticity in the case of plane strain. The specific treatment of the problem is preceded by a long introduction repeating results already recorded in many books. In addition, several papers quoted in the references are not pertinent to the method of solution adopted by the authors. Their technique is to apply the two-sided Laplace transform with respect to the \(x\) (horizontal)-variable to the system, so that it is reduced to a pair of ordinary fourth-order differential equations in the \(y\)-variable. This system can be explicitly solved, but the problem arises of inverting the transformed solution. This is done by applying a numerical program available for users, but the final expressions of displacement components are hardly readable. The conclusion is that the method of integral transforms in this context is not convenient.
