Let \(t_1,\dots, t_N\), \(r_1,\dots, r_M\) and \(s_1,\dots, s_{NM}\) denote canonical generators of the Cuntz algebras \(O_N\), \(O_M\) and \(O_{MN}\), respectively. Let \(\varphi_{N,M}\) denote the unital \(\ast\)-embedding of \(O_{MN}\) into \(O_N\otimes O_M\) defined by \[ \varphi_{N,M}(s_{M(i-1)+j})=t_i\otimes r_j. \] Given two representations \((\pi_1, \pi_2)\in \text{Rep}\, O_N \times \text{Rep}\, O_M\), the author introduces the \(\varphi\)-tensor product \(\pi_1\otimes _\varphi \pi_2\) of \(\pi_1\) and \(\pi_2\) by \[ \pi_1\otimes _\varphi\pi_2 = (\pi_1\otimes \pi_2)\circ \varphi_{N,M}. \] It is shown that this tensor product is nonsymmetric and associative. It is proved that the tensor product of permutative representations is also a permutative representation. The decomposition of tensor products of representations into a direct sum of cycles is explicitly described.
