An entire matrix pencil is a function \(f(z)=\sum_{k=0}^{\infty}c_{k}z^{k}\) where the \(c_{k}\) are \(n\times n\) complex matrices, \(z\) is a complex scalar, and the sum converges in the whole plane. Fix an arbitrary norm \(\left\| ~\right\| \), and define \(M_{f}(r):=\max_{\left| z\right| =r}\left\| f(z)\right\| \) for \(r>0\). The order \(\rho(f)\) of \(f\) is defined to be the lim-sup of \(\ln\ln(M_{r}(f))/\ln r\) as \(r\rightarrow\infty\). Assume that \(f\) is nonzero and that its order is finite. Let \(\left\{ z_{k}(f)\right\} \) be the (finite or infinite) sequence of zeros of \(\det f(z)\). The author obtains identities (in terms of matrices of larger dimension) for the sums \(\sum_{k}z_{k}(f)^{-m}\) when \(m>\rho(f)\) and \(\sum _{k}\text{Im}(1/z_{k}(f))^{-2}\) when \(\rho(f)<2\).
