    The authors investigate the operators \[ M_n(f,x)=\sum^{\infty}_{k=0}f\left(\frac{k}{n+k}\right)\binom{n+k}{k}x^k(1-x)^{n+1}, \quad 0\leq x<1, \quad M_n(f,1)=f(1), \] which are known as Meyer-König and Zeller operators. Let us introduce the special modulus of smoothness as follows: \[ \omega^2_{\varphi}(f,\delta)=\sup\limits_{0<h\leq\delta}\|\Delta^2_{h\varphi} f(x)\|_{C[0,1]},\quad \varphi^2(x)=x(1-x)^2, \] where \[ \Delta^2_{h\varphi}f(x)= \begin{cases} f(x+h\varphi(x))-2f(x)+f(x-h\varphi(x)), \quad x\pm h\varphi(x)\in [0,1]\\ 0,\quad \text{otherwise}. \end{cases} \] The main result of the paper is the following \textbf{Theorem 1.1.} For any function \(f\in C[0,1]\), \(\varphi(x)=\sqrt{x}(1-x)\) and \(n\geq 5\) there exist constants \(R>1\) and \(C>0\) such that for \(l>Rn\) the inequality \[ \omega^2_{\varphi}(f,\delta)\leq C\frac{l}{n}\left(\|M_n(f,\cdot)-f(\cdot)\|_{C[0,1]}+\|M_l(f,\cdot)-f(\cdot)\|_{C[0,1]} \right) \] holds.
