    Diese Arbeit stellt eine Fortsetzung und gleichzeitig eine Spezialisierung von [\textit{A. Iosevich, E. Sawyer} and \textit{A. Seeger} [J. Anal. Math. 87, 209-- 230 (2002; Zbl 1927.11074)] dar. Konvexe Körper der Dimension \(d\) werden spezialisiert auf konvexe Flächen, \(d=2\). Sei \(K\) ein konvexer ebener Bereich mit dem Ursprung im Innern, und bezeichne \(N_K(t)\) die Anzahl der Gitterpunkte in \(tK\), so bildet \[ E_K(t)=N_K(t)-t^2\text{ area}(K) \] das Fehlerglied. Es interessiert die Abschätzung von \[ G_K(R,h)=\left(\frac 1h \int_R^{R+h}|E_K(t)|^2\,dt\right)^{1/2}. \] Die Autoren fragen, wie schwach die Bedingungen an die Randkurve ausfallen können, um hinreichend scharfe Abschätzungen zu erhalten. Als Beispiel sei genannt: Es gilt \[ G_K(R,h)\leq C_KR^{1/2}\quad\text{für }\log R\leq h\leq R \] schon unter der Voraussetzung, daß die Randkurve einmal stetig differenzierbar ist.
