For linear systems with discrete and distributed delay and with a switching rule (discontinuous change from one system to another if the state moves from one region of phase space to another), stability is proved via Lyapunov functionals. Assumptions are made such that there is a dominant decay term in the equation, and the maximal delay has to be small enough. The method is extended to the case where the `time of activity' of different systems overlaps, due to the delay.
