The authors study the behavior w.r.t.\ Weil restriction and field extension of some ramification theoretic invariants, in particular, the motivic Serre invariant that was introduced by \textit{F. Loeser} and \textit{J. Sebag} [Duke Math. J. 119, 315--344 (2003; Zbl 1078.14029)] as the motivic integration analog of the classical \(p\)-adic invariant from \textit{J.-P. Serre} [Topology 3, 409--412 (1965; Zbl 0141.37403)]. Amongst others, they prove that the motivic Serre invariant (of a formal scheme or rigid variety) is stable under Weil restriction w.r.t.\ a finite totally ramified extension. This justifies its interpretation as a measure for the size of the set of unramified points of the variety.
