In a diagonally dominant matrix, each diagonal element dominates its row. Weakly dominant matrices form a class of matrices relaxing this condition. There are some technical conditions on the amount by which some diagonal elements dominate, and the amount by which others are dominated. This class contains the \(H\)-matrices (whose columns can be scaled to give a diagonally dominant matrix) as a special case. For this enlarged class an upper bound for \(\| A^{-1}\| _\infty\) and for the smallest singular value are obtained in terms of the parameters defining the weak dominance. Some small (\(2\times2\) and \(3\times3\)) examples are given.
