The author studies a procedure by which he obtains some new groups from groups endowed with a root data, by using the torsion. After recalling some notions and results concerning the systems of roots, he considers a root basis \(\mathbf{B}\) over a totally ordered field \(K\), a \(\mathbf{B}\)-system of roots \(\Psi\), a part \(\mathbf{P}\) of \(K\) with elements \(\geq 1\) and a finite group \(\Gamma\) of automorphisms of \(\mathbf{B}\) leaving invariant \(\Psi\). Then he defines the root data of type \(\mathbf{B}\) in a group \(G\) and shows that they fulfill the axioms of Tits and that of Kac and Peterson. Next he studies the positive root systems of type \((\mathbf{B}, \Psi^+,\mathbf{P})\). The root data of type \((\mathbf{B}, \Psi,\mathbf{P})\) are used to establish the main result (Theorem 4.5).
